When Canadian companies are looking to expand, they usually turn their attention south. The U.S. marketplace is exponentially larger than Canada's, and in many cases, U.S. customers are in closer proximity to the business than many of the existing Canadian customers. The U.S. offers an expansion opportunity with few of the barriers usually encountered by a business seeking to expand outside of its native country.
