QUESTION: Can I start a food-making business at home (ie.catering business)?
TOPIC: Starting a Home-based Business
ANSWER
It is possible to start a home-based food preparation business if you have a kitchen that is separate from the one that is normally used to prepare your own food. This industrial kitchen must pass inspections from the Public Health in order to operate. If you do not have a designated kitchen for business use, contact your local kitchen incubator or look into renting kitchen spaces that have passed inspection for industrial use. Contact the Toronto Public Health department for more information at 416-338-3663. For more details, please contact one of our offices
