I think you are really looking to convert your small business into an enterprise. The technology for small businesses is totally different than the multi-purpose enterprise ones.
If you are in the business of software creation and publication, then by all means build an enterprise platform. If you are not, then take a look at what is out there, like the TBOSE platform from technocorp.com. The main trend and objective of business owners is to hand off technical stuff to an enterprise cloud service provide.
A conversion process requires the use of a small business systems analyst that has experience. If you have a limited budget, you can still acquire a conversion with a new consultant in training (college/university grad) from the Technocorp Authorized Consultant or TAC program. The conversion will be a bit slower and will take about 3 months.
